'Guitar' Pen on Paper |
For a change there's no real story of meaning behind today's 'draw' other than I needed to draw something and after a subtle suggestion from one of my house-mates this seemed as good a subject matter as any. I think the only thing I really want to discuss at this point is that the last few weeks I've been struggling to re-adjust to the new shift patterns I'm on at work. I've been working a 2-10 shift ever since returning from holiday so it has been difficult to catch up on the backlog of writing that had built up on my time away. The reason being that in the morning I have to prepare and then make my way to work, which now has me travelling a bit further out of the city of Belfast, leaving me very little time to do much of anything else. As well as this the fact that I don't get home until 10.30 after which I normally have to fit in a drawing, make some food and catch up on multiple things, means that there isn't much time for activities there either. So, so far I've been drawing almost as soon as I've entered the door and writing part way through the night in a bid to catch up on myself but with any luck I should catch up on things fairly soon. Furthermore I'm now working every other weekend which all but removes the usual time that I would have spent either taking photographs or making vague plans for the week ahead of time. In short the next few weeks then should be interesting if nothing else as I try to get to grips with my new schedule and attempt to carve out the time to keep up with the project... the important thing is that I adapt quickly, although I do take solace in that so far there have been a few instances where I've had little of no time to put together a drawing and still managed. The main thing will be to take a moment to identify all the new variables, issues and consequences until I'm able to adapt to my new timescale.
