'Statue City Hall Belfast', Pen on Paper |
Keeping things simple today and working from some of the images I took recently, the drawing is of part of one of the statues at the side o
f Belfast City Hall, to be more precise the memorial to Queen Victoria. The memorial was erected to celebrate the monarch's jubilee, built by Thomas Brock and unveiled by King Edward VII on 27 July 1903. On each side at the base of the statue are two life-size bronze figures, one of which is the subject of today's drawing, after reading up a little on the statue it is said that the figures represent spinning and shipbuilding respectively. Also at the back is a bronze figure of a child which is thought to represent education.
